Mecca Bingo
If you are a Bingo lover living in the UK, then you should know exactly who Mecca is. After all, we owe them so much. It was Mecca founder Eric Morley who first brought the commercial game to UK soil back in the 1960s. It was, as you well know, some what of and instant sensation and Bingo has never looked back. Neither has Mecca for that matter. Now a member of the well renowned Rank Group, Mecca claims close to 120 land based halls scattered through the whole of the UK. That adds up to a tidy 3 million members.
In being the first big game in the UK, you would naturally assume that Mecca would be first on the online scene as well. This did not turn out to be the case however as Mecca kept us all waiting until 2005 when they first opened their virtual doors. They are ripe for the playing now, so let's head over and see what they bring to the table.
With this type of rich company history, you can be certain that security is just not going to be listed among your worries at Mecca Bingo. This makes it easy to sit back and focus on what you really came here for, the Bingo. When you first arrive at the hall you find yourself in a joyful place full of colour and life. Navigation is well thought out using a tab system to outline their wears. We know right off that Bingo is our bag, so a few quick clicks and off we go.
The clear navigation carries through to the main Bingo page. All of Mecca's tempting Bingo is clearly labelled for your viewing pleasure. The Multi-Player Bingo is the main event, but it is not the only option laid before you. The only problem that we ran into here was that there are a series of what look like game links running down the left hand side of your screen. You need to know that these lead you to small off shoot site rather than to Mecca Bingo's big games. Stick to the path and go for the large Play Now button right below the Multi-Player ad. This is the most direct route and gets up to the games that much faster. Also if you see the link for "Mecca Bingo," be aware that it will lead you to a site dedicated to their land based clubs. This is probably not what you are really looking for at this time.
At this point you will have to walk through the sign up process and deposit some money before you can get in the action. Mecca does offer free play on several of their games, but we are sad to say that 90-ball Bingo is not included on that list. However, there is still light at the end of the tunnel in the form of a nice welcome bonus, but more on that later. While it is great to see the try before you buy attitude, we can't see where this would be a poor choice for any player. Mecca's games are offered using a high quality custom package that does its part to add to your Bingo experience. The whole system operates in a non-downloading instant play format that while not quite as slick as some, still gets the job done. It delivers an overall realistic Bingo experience that is by no means second rate. The healthy traffic flow and lively chat rooms are a definite testament to their popularity.
Now, even though Mecca claims to support Macs, we were unable to get the Multi-Player Bingo up and running during our review. This is a common problem that we hate to see, but it is especially bad when the site's published literature makes a claim that their technology just can't back up. After several conversations with customer support we discovered that this is an ongoing problem that they are working to fix. We hope that this is the case and that by the time this review makes its way to you the Mac issue at Mecca will be a thing of the past. We know that this will not affect the majority of players in any way; we just think that they should have to back up their own claims.
While you won't be blown away by promotions at Mecca Bingo, their new player bonus is tempting. After you play $10 of your own cash at their site, Mecca will gift you with a $10 Welcome Bonus. Granted we would like to see more from this area, but this is a better welcome bonus than what their competition currently runs so maybe it's just a start.
The name Mecca has simply come to mean Bingo in the UK. They have put in the hard work required to build their company into the highly respected organization it is today. While they still have a few kinks to work out, all in all this is a very solid showing. If you are always searching for that next great game, then Mecca Bingo is one to see. They host an exciting game with big money stakes and as always are a company that you can fully trust. That is one fact that should never be taken for granted.
